AQUATICS POSITIONS

Meadowlands YMCA searching for the following Aquatic positions: 

 

Associate Aquatics Director- The Associate Aquatics Director (AAD) is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Director in overseeing the organization, implementation, administration, promotion and evaluation of the Aquatics Programs and facilities. The AAD will be responsible for knowledge of the New Jersey Uniform Bathers Code and for conducting the general maintenance, repair and upkeep of the aquatics venues.   The AAD will serve as one of the coaches of the School Year and Summer swim teams.  The AAD must be able to lead and direct a variety of instructional programs at a quality level and will direct an Agency wide Training Program.  The AAD must lead the Aquatics Staff by example and education.

Pool Supervisor – qualified candidate must possess current Lifeguard and CPR certifications, be a CPO, have WSI Instructor license, lifeguard instructor certification and have experience coaching swim teams.  Contact us for additional information:  Kurt Peluso @ 201-955-5300 x 13.

Swim Coach – qualified candidate must have at least 1 year experience working with swim teams.

Certified Pool Operator  - qualified candidate must be CPO certified and have had hands on experience with pool maintenance.

Deck Supervisor - qualified candidate will be responsible for overseeing the supervision of the facilities and the staff on duty, oversee swim lessons, and teach swim lessons on occasions.  Must  be Life Guard and CPR certified.  Must possess WSI license.

Water Safety Instructor - qualified fully certified candidate will be required to teach basic swimming techniques to a wide range of students. 

Life Guard Instructor -  qualified candidate will be required to teach life guarding classes, CPR classes, First Aid Classes, and Blood borne Pathogens.

Activity Class Instructors needed:

We have a variety of classes, ranging from preschool to youth to adult art (see the brochure for current class offerings.  The immediate openings for classes beginning the week of 1/31/10 are:

Tiny Tutus: Tuesdays 3:30-4:15 and/or Thursdays 5:00-5:45, Rutherford

Itsy Bitsy Sports:  Wednesdays 6:30-7:15 and/or Thursdays 2:00-2:45, Rutherford

Preschooler’s Family Fun Time:  Thursdays 6:30-7:15, Rutherford

Lego Mania:  Tuesdays 4:00-4:45, Wood-Ridge

Creative Cooks:  Saturdays 9:30-10:20 and 10:30-11:20, Lyndhurst

Guitar:  Saturdays 10:30-11:30, Lyndhurst

Group Voice:  Thursdays 4:30-5:30 and 5:45-6:45, Rutherford

Ballroom Dance and Latin Dance:  Mondays 7:00-8:00 and 8:00-9:00, Rutherford

Instructors do not have to be certified teachers, but must have some experience in classroom or group management (Scout Leader, CCD teacher, etc.).  Instructors in Guitar, Group Voice and Dance need specific  training and expertise in the class content in addition to classroom management skills.

We are also looking for summer staff to teach a variety of subjects.  Tentative areas are:

Youth Enrichment Classes – in a variety of topics, weekday mornings in July, Rutherford.  If interested, please include suggestions for classes you could teach.

Science Mini-Camp – requires a teacher with a strong interest in Science, and the ability to design the camp curriculum, as well as deliver classes.  Also requires one or more assistants who do not need teaching credentials, but must have some background with children and an interest in science.  This will be a one- or two-week camp, dates TBD.

Health Lecturers:  

The Meadowlands Area YMCA is hosting a series of health lectures at their various locations in south Bergen County, NJ. Anyone interested in reserving a spot to lecture about various health topics (nutrition, exercise, massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc). Please email me at wellness@meadowlandsymca.org.  Topic and script must be preapproved by myself, all promotions will be done at the expense of the Y.

  

Fitness Instructors:

We are looking for qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated group fitness instructors  to join the Meadowlands Area YMCA  team at our Rutherford and Lyndhurst locations. The position is perfect for someone looking for a part-time add-on job, or a start-up position to launch his or her career in the fitness/wellness/health industry.

Location: New Jersey

Compensation: based on experience

Education and Experience Requirements
•Working toward or has obtained high school diploma

Licenses/Certifications:
•Red Cross Lifeguard and First Aid
•Red Cross CPR-PR/AED
