In case of emergency, don't panic! The Meadowlands Area YMCA offers great life-saving certification classes that will teach you how care for and treat injured people.

Choose from any one of our great classes or take them all- you can never be too prepared!

CPR Certification

You are having lunch with someone and suddenly they cannot cough, speak or breathe. Would you know what to do? This course will teach you about choking emergencies and what to do if a heart stops beating.

First Aid Basics

Would you know what to do if you or your family was hurt? Do you “think safety” before you react to a situation? This course gives you the information regarding First Aid topics and allows you to practice your newly acquired skills.

Blood-Borne Pathogens Training

This newly updated course meets OSHA’s revised Blood Borne Pathogens standard. This course teaches participants how blood borne pathogens are spread, how to prevent exposures and what to do if exposed to infectious materials.

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer

The purpose of this training is to teach professional rescue (those with a duty to act and provide care). The skills needed to respond appropriately to bre4athing and cardiac emergencies, including the use of and automated external defibrillator for victims of sudden cardiac arrest. Training includes two rescuer CPR and the use of a resuscitation mask and bag valve mask.

Babysitter's Training (11 years-up)

We offer American Red Cross Babysitter's Certification for those who are 11 years or older. Problem solving, First Aid, rescue breathing, feeding, and diapering are all taught along with details on child developmental stages. Personal care and hygiene are also discussed in addition to the business aspect of babysitting.
