Guard Start (12- 14 years)
Do you like to
swim, play pool games? Have you thought about how much fun it would be to
help out at the pool? Or do you think you might want to get a job at the
pool when you are older? This class will teach first aid, water safety and
give you the opportunity to swim every day.
Lifeguard Challenge (15 and up)
Open to anyone
that posses the skills and knowledge to pass a challenge of the Lifeguard
course. Participants need to pass all the prerequisites, skill scenarios,
and final written test with 80% or better. Note: the participant only gets
one chance. This is no lecture or guidance from the instructor.
The course
teaches participants the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic
emergencies. Students will be issued Red Cross certificates for Lifeguard
Training, CPR for professional Rescuer, AED training and First Aid upon
completion of the course. Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years old at
the end of the course. A 300 yard swim pretest must be completed the first
day of class. Attendance is necessary at all classes. Pre-test fee will be
collected the day of the test.
The American
Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course provides instructor candidates the
training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and
water safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the
course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate
progress. This is a 35 hour class. All dates are mandatory.
Fundamentals of Instructor Training
The 4.5 hour
course is the prerequisite course of all ARC instructor courses. You will
learn the mission of the Red Cross, instructor’s responsibilities and more.
Safety Training for Swim
Coaches
Purpose: To provide training
in aquatic safety for competitive swim coaches, officials, athletic
trainers, and athletes participating in aquatic activities, aquatic
exercise trainers and other individuals involved in aquatic competition
or exercise program. 8 hour course. No prerequisites
